A successful co-founder relationship can enable a business to scale faster and more sustainable by bringing the right combination of leadership skills to drive all aspects of growth.

While the right co-founder relationship can be more than the sum of its parts, there are numerous reasons why it doesn’t always work. Conflicts over who will be CEO, shareholding, salary, sales, ideas, working styles, and egos are very common. If both founders are sales driven and competitive it can create unhealthy tension, but compromise can help to channel energy and expertise. The most successful play to their strengths and ideally take ownership of sales or operations under a unifying vision. While disagreements and disputes will always arise, many use mentors, NEDs or a chairman to help them find a resolution to keep the business on track.

This dinner will look to explore, but will not be limited to:

  • The ideal co-founder relationship and model
  • How to define roles as part of a growth plan
  • Typical and toxic challenges and how to avoid them 
  • Strategies for managing co-founder disputes
